Dunragit Community Hub Update

Sep 9, 2024

It’s all been rather exciting over at Dunragit, with your new community hub cabin delivered to site, assembly completed and now all measured up for the flooring which has been ordered. Many thanks to ERM Plant for their speedy work on the cabin base, to Island Leisure for building our beautiful cabin and to Whitecairn for delivering the cabin to site. Thanks also to our funders; the Coastal Benefit Fund, administered by Dumfries and Galloway Council, and Old Luce Community Fund, administered by Foundation Scotland.

We’ve also applied for a grant from the Community Led Local Development Fund, administered by Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway, to fund a solar PV system, heritage displays and initial supplies to start social groups, such as art supplies, board games and sports equipment. Our application also includes a 4-month post to establish a programme of activities at both the new Dunragit Community Hub and at Glenluce Public Hall, so we’ll be keeping our fingers tightly crossed for a successful outcome.
Utilities are in progress being installed to the site and the groundworks will continue to create the terracing and car parking, ready for an October opening.  Delivery day was quite the community effort and thank you very much to everyone who came along and helped.
